Welcome to the Camino 4 Vocations blog. I am Fr. Jeff Eirvin, Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon. On June 29 my father and I will begin a 10 day pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. We will end our pilgrimage on July 8, at the tomb of St. James in Santiago, Spain. We would like you to join us on this pilgrimage. Sponsor us, follow us, and pray with us along the Way!
My father’s name is Earnest Jeff Eirvin, III, but he has gone by Jeff most of his life. I was lucky that they spared me from being the IV! On June 7 my father took on the role of Vice President of Vocations for the Portland Serra Club (www.serraportland.org). He and I are making this pilgrimage for a special intention – the increase of vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life. The priesthood is an awesome vocation! I pray that more young men will answer the call. Join the two father Jeff’s on this journey of faith.
We will be walking 230 kilometers (142 miles) on the Portuguese Way. We are asking friends, family and strangers to sponsor us on our pilgrimage. All proceeds go to funding vocation events throughout the year in the Archdiocese of Portland. We have many events throughout the year that cannot happen without the support of generous benefactors. Sponsor us at $1 a mile at $142 or $1 a kilometer at $230, or more!
More importantly, we ask that you send us your prayer intentions so that we can carry them with us to the tomb of the apostle James. We all struggle at times in our life, but we don’t have to carry the burden alone. Allow us to carry it these ten days for you. Prayers are always answered, but always in God’s time, not ours.
