Day 10: We left Padron at 6 am. We walked by ourselves for the first hour, then Thomas from Slovakia caught up with us. It was a nice morning, although I was very weak as a cold was setting in. Since this was our last day I was determined to keep going!
later that morning the rest of the group caught up with us and passed us quite quickly. They were on the move because one of them had to go to the bathroom! Nothing out of the ordinary happened today, just that we noticed there was great excitement in the air as we were approaching Santiago. We began to see more pilgrims along the way. The Polish group went ahead because they were worried about securing an albergue. We could take our time since we had a hotel already booked in Santiago.
We reached the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela around noon with Adina and Alex. Finally we reached our destination – the tomb of the apostle St. James! There was excitement in the air as many pilgrims arrived. We sat for a while to take it all in. While sitting we spoke with some young men from Madrid, Spain who just finished the Camino Frances on bicycles. They were very excited to be finished.
After getting settled in our hotel we went to the cathedral and venerated the relics of St. James and prayed at his tomb. We carried you intentions with us and placed them in the care of St. James.
Our Camino 4 Vocations has come to a close. Thank you for following us, sponsoring us and praying with us along the Way!
Well, the Camino of life never ends, we are on our way to Fatima! Be assured that your intentions will go with us to the site of the apparitions. May Mary guide us, protect us and lead us all more closer to her son, Jesus.
